Position Description

The Director will be primarily responsible for developing and executing the internal FPCMS communications plan and supporting the executive communications needs of the President and members of her senior leadership team, including executive outreach, communications strategy and development and delivery of key messages. Reporting to the VP of communications, he/she will also be part of a broader communications team, supporting a variety of business units and functions. As such, the Director will participate in cross-functional projects and may be called upon to support the executive communications needs of business leaders in other business units or divisions on a project, interim, or ongoing basis.

The Director will need to be capable of working with all levels of the organization and across Fidelity to champion and apply communication best practices in support of strategic organizational initiatives that need explanation and positioning to a variety of internal audiences, including clients, business partners, senior management, and employees.

Primary Responsibilities

* Manage a wide variety of writing, editing, planning, project management and consultation engagements for activities including, but not limited to, senior executive presentations, employee engagement initiatives and employee communications vehicles (examples include speeches/presentations, leadership messages, organizational announcements, intranet content, webcasts, Fidelity internal newspaper stories, and other materials.)

* Manage the preparation, planning and delivery of major in-person and electronic communications events, including employee all-hands meetings, leadership meetings, videoconferences and conference calls.

* Develop and manage content for the FPCMS Intranet site and other Intranet sites, as needed.

* Consult with senior business leaders on internal presentation content, advise business partners on written and electronic communications for clarity and simplicity for end-users, and be qualified to develop, approve, and test company-wide employee communications.

Qualifications

Education and Experience


* Bachelor's degree and 8 to 10 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 3 years executive communications experience, supporting senior business leaders at the division or business unit head level

* Financial services industry experience preferred

* Experience in both the strategic planning and tactical implementation of key communications initiatives

* Prior experience developing communications to support transformation and major change initiatives is highly desirable.

Skills/Knowledge

* Outstanding communications, interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and related resources

* Excellent writing, editing and research skills

* Expertise in Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint

* Ability to work well with senior management and across all levels of an organization

* Organizational skills related to managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines

* Self-starting quick study (with a solid familiarity with basic business and financial services concepts, issues, products and trends) who can help generate and "sell" creative ideas and new approaches

* Strong team player and relationship manager
