Description
Position Description
Fund Accounting and Administration (FAA), which comprises Fund Accounting, Institutional Accounting, Pricing, Fund Administration, Fund Reporting, Legal Product, and Tax provides accounting and pricing services to all of the Fidelity Retail and Institutional products. Some of these services include: calculating and distributing Net Asset Values, distributing rates and yields, preparing financial statements and tax returns, monitoring trade delivery to custodian banks, processing corporate actions, collecting income on security and managing fund liquidity.
The Fund Accounting department performs the daily pricing and bookkeeping for retail funds and institutional funds within FPCMS. The primary function for this role is to calculate the daily Net Asset Value of the various funds that Fidelity manages and supports. As part of this responsibility, the Fund Accountant reviews all of the data points pertinent to the funds - security trades, income, expenses, shareholder transactions, etc. This role requires attention great attention to detail, ability to work in a time sensitive environment and the ability to "think outside of the box."
In addition to the technical aspect of the role, the Analyst also performs project work, looks for process improvements, partakes in training and development opportunities and is part of a larger team effort. Depending on the project that the Analyst supports, the work hours may vary from early morning Shift:s to more, standard work hours. The ability to work overtime and be flexible is strongly encouraged.
Position Responsibilities
* Calculate, analyze, and report NAVs, yields and mil rates that are reported daily
* Analyze and review daily reconciliations, expense accruals, disbursements and trade input.
* Provide daily support of business relationships with customer/suppliers such as the shareholder service area, custodian banks, portfolio management, trading, and custody operations on a fund specific basis.
* Identify and participate in development of cross-divisional automation initiatives and system enhancements.
* Identify, analyze, resolve, or elevate potential fund risks.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
* Experience in Mutual Fund Accounting strongly preferred.
Skills and Knowledge
* Knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP).
* Strong analytical & organizational skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (such as Word or Excel), ability to train on and work with different operating systems.
* Ability to work in a team environment.
* Ability to work in a face paced and deadline-oriented environment
* Flexibility to work overtime (as needed) to fulfill the job requirements
