Lead the development of an exciting new incubator in Fidelity Labs geared at creating new growth for Fidelity. The incubator will rapidly move ideas from concepts to scale to help bring these game-changing ideas to market. We seek an Incubator Architect with a software engineering background, who remains hands-on, and has demonstrated proficiency at applying innovative technologies to “real world” ideas.

The Expertise We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree Computer Science or other related discipline

15+ years of software development

Experience with multiple enterprise technologies

Demonstrated understanding and proven track record for full stack cloud based solutions, continuous integration/deployment, serverless architecture, client/server development

Hands-on experience of working directly with Product and Design teams

Designed complete end-to-end solutions

Desire/ability to learn and implement new technologies

Demonstrated experience of building, mentoring and leading a development team

Experience with Lean Startup, Design Thinking a plus

The Purpose of Your Role

The Incubator Architect acts as the CTO in an Incubator program. The Incubator Architect will be responsible for the design, architecture and development of the Incubators technology. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast paced and highly ambiguous environment working with emerging technologies, high risks and uncertainty.

The Value You Deliver

Owns the strategic design, architecture and development of new technology and software for the incubator

Ensures incubator products are architected and designed for a seamless integration

Translates business vision into technology strategy

Ensures the implementation and use of best software development practices

Ensures system, technical and product architectures are aligned with incubators objectives

Oversees the development, implementation and execution of an Incubator ensuring scope and schedule are established for projects; oversees operating plan and resourcing

Attracts, hires and leads high-performing software engineering staff. Determines and manages staffing strategy and plan (number of FTEs, skills needed, depth of experience, internal and external staffing mix) consistent with the needs of the incubator

Identifies and addresses group development needs to create high performance teams

Escalate issues and risks to executive management for timely resolution

Drives build/ buy/ partner strategies, determining the best approach to product creation based on understanding the business drivers and product strategy

Build relationships with core business line architects and technology leaders to develop a deep understanding of core business platforms and work collaboratively to define an approach to integrating new offerings that balances speed and scale

Develops and maintains a network of industry contacts; performs or directs research on industry trends, competitors, business and IT products; analyses trends and makes strategic and tactical recommendations
