Description
Although the position will be located in Boston, we are in the process of relocating/realigning the business function. Therefore, for a temporary period, until approximately the end of Q1 2010, you will report to Fidelity's Marlborough facility.
The Program Manager helps lead the development of a PWI, end-to-end (e2e) process improvement culture. A key responsibility of the Program Manager is to successfully implement large-scale, cross-functional, process improvement programs that add significant value and create sustainable business results. The Program Manager is also expected to develop future PWI process improvement leaders in an effort to create a continuous improvement, learning organization.
The Program Manager reports to the Senior Vice President of the BPE. The Program Manager has Project Managers and Associates as dotted line reports and plays a significant role in their performance development.
Primary Responsibilities
* Partners with PWI's functional and business leaders
* Helps PWI leaders identify business strategies and ensures strategies are aligned with PWI's enterprise-wide strategies
* Identifies, assesses and prioritizes PWI business improvement needs and programs based on potential impact to FMR shareholder value
* Develops and maintains strong relationships with PWI senior management
* Becomes recognized as a credible PWI leader
* Attends key PWI governance meetings to gain a solid understanding of PWI business issues
* Ensures sustainable success of BPE led programs and projects
* Obtains appropriate senior management visibility and sponsorship to ensure successful engagement and execution of programs
* Is accountable for the success of assigned programs; monitors implemented recommendations to ensure sustainability
* Ensures high levels of client satisfaction for assigned programs. Regularly solicits feedback regarding program performance. Manages customer expectations and resolves cross-functional issues.
* Facilitates assigning BPE resources to programs. Coordinates the implementation of programs in a manner that best utilizes PWI and external resources.
* Anticipates, manages and communicates program risks
* Perform other duties, including Project Manager and Associate responsibilities, as required, to ensure project success
* Supports the BPE infrastructure
* Provides Project Managers and Associates with guidance, coaching, mentoring and general support throughout all phases of a program
* Evaluates BPE project team performance and conducts performance reviews on a regular basis
* Participates in recruiting, hiring, coaching and mentoring of BPE employees
* Plays an active role in BPE budget-related activities
* Participates in the teaching, facilitating and fostering of various continuous improvement and step change improvement methodologies, toolkits and standards.
* Performance Outcome Criteria:
Realized business impact, based on relevant financial and operational indicators (e.g., increased profits, reduced costs, reduced cycle time)
Client feedback regarding program quality, timeliness, effectiveness, etc.
Client requests for additional or related program in a business or function
Feedback about workgroup climate from BPE employees
Qualifications
Education and Experience
* 10+ years of experience in: industry (preferably financial services), program management and process improvement
* Seasoned manager
Skills and Knowledge
* Strong breadth and depth of knowledge in step change & continuous improvement methodologies, toolkits and various change management & influencing tactics: preferably a Master Black Belt or Lean Master
* Consulting experience outside of PWI
* Very strong qualitative, quantification, influencing and communications skills
* PC literacy: ability to quickly learn and productively use new software applications; Spreadsheet and database facility
